Product reviews: WonderWash washing machine

After hearing from a friend how great the Wonderwash was, I decided to investigate this product. Having four children, I thought this product might be somewhat impractical, but my dear friend who had been using it for awhile has five, so I knew that I could probably pull it off.

I read every review that I could about this product , as well reviews for similar machines, and this manual washing machine was definitely the preferred device. So after much deliberation, I decided to give it a try.

When I received the package, the first thing I noticed was how lightweight the box was. I couldn’t believe that there would be anything within this box that would be able to withstand my family’s laundry. I opened the box and realized that there would be a small amount of assembly required and was disappointed to see that the instructions were very vague with only three pictures of the product and the parts were a little difficult to make out. While I was putting the base together, I was concerned that I might break the plastic pieces while somewhat frustrating. However, after a decent amount of careful effort, the machine was assembled and ready to use.

The first few times that I used this machine, I wasn’t sure if my clothes were getting clean. Through trial and error I found that these tips produced the best results:

Do not overload machine – The water to laundry ratio is very important and overloading this machine can negatively impact results. Do not use too much soap – Although the instructions recommend using four tablespoons of laundry detergent per full load, this was way too much. The clothes were extremely soapy after even two rinse cycles , so I decreased the amount by half and it worked out well. Rinse clothes twice – I rinse each load twice, once with a small amount of fabric softener (about the same amount as detergent used) and once with plain clear water. For me, this achieved the best results.

The biggest drawback to this product is that you must hang wring all clothing after it has been washed, which takes a lot of time and effort. If you are planning to replace your standard washing machine with this product, I would suggest purchasing a wringing machine or table top spin dryer. Other than that, this product seems to work wonderfully.
