A challenge to unravel,
and easy to dismiss,
modern art might be strange,
but it is art, all the same.
It might be worth the effort
to spend a little time,
seeking hidden meanings,
that might or might not be there.
A kind of visual nonsense,
astonishing to see.
Yet another masterpiece
illustrating randomness.
There must be meaning somewhere,
in every work of art.
If only I could see it,
I'd have nothing more to say.
In an age of tolerance,
a fuss is not allowed.
Lovers of diversity
enjoy variety.
Written art is similar.
It's just as difficult
to sculpt meaning out of words,
as to paint it with colours.

A Challenged Stretch
I imagine sometimes
That I am abstract
One line connecting another
Circles and dots
Dividing parts
Paintings paint the painter
Whatever within shall show itself
Though mediums vary yet still there’s beauty
In the
Bucolic brownish/bluish black beret.
Tossed onto his aching head late yesterday.
Brushes and paints strewn across the table.
I am not sophisticated
Well informed or educated
In the values that are used
I am just a bit bewildered
Of the issues complicated
I could shove a cat inside a donkey
and throw eggs at a wall;
it doesn’t mean that it means
anything.
