Throughout the night
Party animal
A date’s delight
Wit and laughter
Cultured, wise
Smiling eyes
A much sought prize
But the party’s ended
The guests have left
Reality returns
A heart bereft
A single candle
Weakly glows
A hope
That no-one ever knows
A hope and wish
For a special friend
So the party joy
May never end
