Their faces flash and wake my sleep
Their brutal deeds not theirs to keep
My heart beats faster as night comes near
My mind screams for silence; they will hear
I laugh and see the good that lingers
Red sand slipping through our fingers
The wrath plays out in throttling skies
The eagle circles; awaiting our cries
The call of death a welcome thought
The quest for peace; all we sought
My dreams aren't mine, not mine to keep
My cries aren't yours, not yours;s to weep
I wake up dazed and fail to grasp
My nightmares have been meant to last
We all have lived and failed to see
The warnings written red in glee
South Africa I find you full and confusing
How once I found you plain amusing
The wrath you spread has been cruel and silent
The African winds now blow strong and voilent
Or maybe it has always been just so
But now that I am older I suffer to know
Your cruel deeds leave me yearning for clearance
Your mercy unaffordable, your wrath in adherence
How can I still find the strength to smile so easily
People are desperate, taking vengenace greedily
Oh Africa your soil is stained red with your hate
Your fires burn with murders in wait
When will your rivers bring peace in its flow
I stare in fright as I ponder to know...

Or how it all pertains to me.
