If you're starting out and looking for a job or say you're testing the waters of real life, you'll definitely face a lot of hindrances and adversities along your way. Looking for a job is hard given these tough economic times. Companies are retrenching, small businesses are starting to shut down, cost-cutting, mass layoffs.

The bottom line is, it is difficult to find a job nowadays and what's worse? Being an inexperienced 17-year-old lost in the crowd of adults. Hence, with the proper guidance and planning, I'm sure you can land yourself a decent job.

It may be difficult but it's possible.

Here listed below is a short list of the best jobs for 17-year-olds.

Make Money Online

One of the easiest ways to get a job is getting a not-so-real job. Confused?

With the power of the internet, entrepreneurs found a new avenue to enhance their business. People even as young as 14-years-old can be "employed" by an online company.

The earnings might not be that lucrative but the opportunities are unlimited. If you like writing, you can join content writing websites such as Helium, Hub pages, Bukisa and Asscoiated Content. Those sites share adverting revenue to its writers plus some of those sites pay upfront for your articles.

You can also try out new products and take part in the marketing research of survey companies. Well, if you're really, really disgusted in working you can just click and view ads. Nonetheless, there are programs that pay you for surfing the net or playing games.

Jobs at Bars

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing you to work as a male stripper. I'm actually talking about bartending and perhaps if you do possess a talent in music you can entertain and serenade the audience.

To be a bartender you just need to know the basics of mixing drinks and probably a thing or two in tossing wine bottles. On the other hand, if you're into music, you can form a band and perform in bars and restaurants.

Customer Service Representative/Technical Service Representative

Businesses have started to outsource off shore thus certain jobs offered in the US market are now open to countries such as India and Philippines.

Being a customer service representative requires you to have a good grasps of the language and good communication skills. You must be friendly and you must remain friendly despite the rudeness of the caller.
