Finding 'free' directory assistance on a cellphone can be tricky, if you don't look in the right places. There are actually two really good ones that are very helpful and are completely free to the user, and only cost normal minutes. One of them you must sit through some advertisements before you get your listing, and the other is just as simple as the standard 411.
Free 411 - This is the one that very helpful, simple to use, and free. Although you do have to sit through some advertisements before you get your listing. This one is really awesome because it gives you the option to send the number to your phone through a simple text message. Which can be very helpful in saving the number for later use. Just simply dial 1-800-FREE411 or 1-800-373-3411.
This service works on all phones besides just cell phones. However it's a great number to use on the go to avoid paying a fee for a simple number.
The other that I found and like a lot is Google 411. Google seems to be offering up many services avaliable to cell phone users, and now they've got a free directory assistance program for us as well. Again, simply dial 1-800-GOOG-411 or 1-800-466-4411. This service is quite reliable and free for the user also.
Though now to break it down to the better one. Personally I feel that Free 411 is so far the best and more reliable one. Yeah the advertisements can become annoying to sit through, but when you think how much your saving on directory assistance. It becomes worth it in the end. It's all voice activated, offers the best result and even lets you choose other options if there are any. For example, if your trying to get a hold of T-mobile. When you call in it'll ask you if it's a business or person. Obviously you'll say business. Then it'll ask for a location or toll free. By saying toll free, it'll give you all results packed into one, and will let you chose the best one for what your looking for.
So for the best in free directory assistance. Never mind the preposition starting that last sentence. I would have to say that Free 411 and Google 411 are the best. Free to us, simple, reliable, and you don't have to pay any crazy fees because you've simply lost a number, or you need a quick find.
