My phantom lover
Comes softly through the night.
He holds me near
After I've had a fright.
So gentle is his touch,
And feather-light his kiss,
That in the morning
When I awake
I smile
And think him but a dream.
Impossibly deep
Runs my love for him
That I lament
The cruel fate
That robbed us of our life together.
He returns to my side
Each star-filled night,
To hold me
In his ghostly embrace
And remind me of
The life in Elysium that awaits.

And feather-light
