How to become a preschool teacher

A preschool teacher organizes and plans daily learning activities. An associates degree must be obtained to become a preschool teacher. A preschool teacher works with children ages 2 to 5. They introduce children to basic math, language and social skills. A bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education prepare graduates to work in elementary schools and daycare centers. The program courses include math, communication, health and nutrition. There are community colleges to prepare students for careers in education. The community colleges offer diploma and degree programs in Early Childhood Education. The programs takes about 1 to 2 years to complete. You will complete courses in psychology, English and math. The courses include children literature, language development and child care administration. You can apply to a college for specific information about Early Childhood Education.

A traditional college and university offers bachelor degree programs in Early Childhood Education. It takes about 4 years to receive a bachelor's degree. The program prepares a student for licensing examinations and teaching positions. A preschool teacher works at daycare and head start centers. The coursework in a degree program includes teaching the alphabets, books, counting and numbers. A preschool teacher uses music, games and math to teach children basic learning skills. A preschool teacher may need first aid certification, child CPR and be fingerprinted. They introduce children to art, computers and books.
