Interstate Banking is quite a wonderful situation. Take the times back in the 80's when you would move from state to state. You would close your account, and then had to start over again! Ugh! No interstate banking, and for that matter sometimes no branch banking!
I even experienced working for a bank that had the same name in Austin, and downtown Temple but Texas didn't believe in banking at another branch. Guess what they didn't have branch banking, but they made it a law in 1986. Strange but true!
Interstate Banking has came a long way baby!
Interstate Banking and Banking have came along way, and which has made it more convenient. Hours are even more convenient with ATMS and banking across state lines is so wonderful. No need to cancel an account, just need to change an address. Oh, you can change your address on line. Yes, the convenience of banking are so marvelous now!
NO need to be wired!
Vacationing in a state that has your bank is so convenient as well! ATM usage, no fees, and can pull funds from your account at a swipe of a card. Yes, remember having to have the money wired to your out of state bank. Can write a check at your bank across state lines. How sweet it is!
Loans and history transfer
Wow! No need to re-establish your creditability at another bank because your history will follow. Nice! Might just have to meet a new bankers, and new loan officers in your new state that is, if you move.
Transferring funds
Can transfer funds online across state lines. Can even transfer money to another branch to send money to your mother in another state. No need for a check! It's live! It's on there account, and no need for a check to have a hold put on it!
Interstate banking has made our lives more flexible, and given us more places to bank within the same banking system. No more stamps if you can make a payment that would normally take 7 days to reach your bank. You can make deposits at other branch banks and wire money to another bank if they don't use your bank. You can do this even if your in another state.
Technology has created some very good innovations for bank customers. ATM pin numbers can be changed at a local branch. Checks don't get mailed back but you can see them online. Lot less attrition and more ways to keep customers at bay! Laws have changed to make the banking world more friendly. But sometimes people think that the new ways of having interstate banking could cause more fraud. But if the bank has your back, and takes care of you then you shouldn't be liable for much.
It is nice to have conveniences of interstate banking. Keeping that banking account, and number the same. Never having to change your history, check numbers, getting a new relationship with a brand new bank, keeping the history going, and making it easy for consumers to travel if the bank is across the country such as Wells Fargo will keep us on the wagon, and by saving us time and convenience and a peace of mind.
