It is a lot of fun to own a boat so you can sail when you wish to enjoy outdoors. Would it not be fun to steer away in blue waters when the skies are blue? Boating is always a fun activity and so is the cleaning activity. It can be enjoyable to get a couple of friends or your family to help you in cleaning your boat. There are several chemical cleaners that can be used. However, using organic natural cleaners like vinegar, lemon and similar products not only clean the boat but make the process environment friendly too.

You would need to use the regular specified boat cleaners. However, many areas of the boat can be cleaned using common household cleaners like vinegar. Did you know that the glass and windows of your boat could shine in minutes when rubbed with vinegar? All you need is to create a solution using water, lemon juice and vinegar in a bottle. Mix it well and spray it on the areas that need cleaning and wipe away using a soft dry cloth. This leaves the glass panes and windows sparklingly clean in short time.

The floor and lockers of the boats are prone to mold and mildew attacks. The dampness after sailing creates favorable conditions for mold, bacteria and mildew to breed in the boats. In order to keep your boat free from such infestations, it is ideal to use vinegar. Almost 90% of bacteria and nearly 80% of mold can be cleaned using vinegar mixed with soap in water. Once done, the whole area can directly be wiped using vinegar and a cleaning cloth.

Being acidic in nature, vinegar is effective in destroying the germs, mold and other bacterial agents. It is also a cost effective stain remover and non-toxic cleaner. Another benefit of using vinegar is that it is inexpensive. It can be bought in bulk and stored for long time for removing soiled stains and cleaning the boat. It works well for boat deck cleaning, tidying the sink in your boat and even the sewage system in your boat. It also works as a great disinfectant for your boat’s toilet.

Vinegar, peppermint oil and essential oils can also keep away mice and pests from the boats. Besides, they also leave a nice aromatic fragrance which is non-toxic and good for your health. Choosing green cleaning alternatives to keep your boat tidy can reduce your carbon footprint on the planet. Natural organic products like vinegar, lemon, essential oils and herbs like thyme can work well to keep your boat clean and sparkling.
