What Happened to Us?
Fair masterpiece painted behind the rust
Metallic mask of rain and summer’s dead
Reflection hidden in ghostly pearl dust
Tilt the halo of what the future said
Forget forgotten diamonds in the rough
Mining chafes at the hands and aches in the heart
Memories are never close to enough
Let what has been left grow farther apart
Shimmer like bitter lemonade sun’s light
Shadow as dark laced with fanciful rain
Wish not want not dream not through the night
Unbind that which was ne’er meant to be tamed
Threads of promises unravel inside
Sing a song, sing along, until it dies

Troubled relationships
Knives and forks
Going wrong in life
Pots and pans

Brink of

Soft gentle light a glow
On my bed hunkered low
Sweat pants and socks scattered on the floor
Orange and white Garfield
