Splits of brain matter
reverberate
when memory lingers
too long in shadow,
and mind shatters
in the echo of the madness.

Traces of pain,
coursing through my veins.
Tugging at tubes,
willing my arms to move.
Pushing a button,
unconscious of reaction.
Calming,
"Come inside and sit right down",
the doctor told me with a frown.

Night descends on the city sprawl

Rising golden in the east,
