How to please your boss

You have landed your dream job or you are new to the job. In either case you want to keep your boss happy. Does this mean that you have to be a tell all kiss butt type? Absolutely not! All this means is that you must use common sense and maturity in your job relations. What does this really mean for you? Well it is pretty simple, let's take a look.

* You have been hired to do a job. If you want to keep your boss happy do the job you have been hired to do and make it a point to do it right. Yes, you will at some point make a mistake or even worse mistakes but, if you have taken your job seriously and shown to not make mistakes often then the boss will not see it as you are not trying or being a nuisance to his/her company. You may have to fix the mistake and there may even be a reprimand to what you did but, you will probably not lose your job.

* Don't be afraid to ask questions. The boss has been in the business for years. That is how they got to their position. They are naturally going to know things that you will not know and tricks to easier ways of doing things. If you have a question don't be afraid to ask for help. If you ask questions you are showing a concern for your actions and a desire to learn how to do more for not only yourself but also your company. This is not kissing up, this is being smart!

* Be nice and courteous to your boss as well as your coworkers. Yes, this means even old grouchy can't be wrong across the hall from you and the new hire that just started this morning. If you are only nice to your boss your coworkers are going to conspire against you thinking that you are only "kissing up" to get ahead. Everyone is more likely to be kind to someone wearing a smile and speaking a nice good morning or hello compared to someone wearing a frown or smirk saying get out of my way. Be nice and treat others as you want to be treated and not only those in positions above yours. Treat "EVERYONE" this way!

* Sometimes our bosses want to have a simple one on one chat with us and sometimes may even ask for our suggestions about what we think the company can do to improve in certain areas. If your boss approaches you for a one on one conversation talk with them at ease. Do not be intimidated by their authority. Always be honest when giving suggestions or ideas for the company to use. If your boss is not much of a talker, respect that and do not consistently try to strike up conversations with them. You will not earn their respect this way. They
