India and Pakistan...well, its been going on for more than 60 years now.
Pakistan was created (of course due to British politics) for protection of Muslims (minority in undivided India). The objective of the British was probably to get back at Gandhi, to whom they were compelled to succumb, and thereby relinquish their crown. What they effectively did was try and create a hate divide between Hindus and Muslims, so that they finish off each other - so that if not the Brits, then noone else either !
Well, what that generation of British did cannot be undone today, but at least today's generation must understand that the division of 1947 was a mistake, and at least we should not allow the sinister motives of that British generation to succeed. Needless to say, even today's British generation will support this view. Easier said than done...so, what do we do?
First things first, we need to understand that actually there are no international boundaries. It is only in our minds! We need to remove this mental block and understand that there are same type of humans on either side of this psychological border.
Both have the same needs and desires. Both need peace, nobody wants a violent society. Yet both countries have anti-social elements, trying to oppose these objectives, simply for their vested interests (if there is no problem, then people don't need a hero - so logically, create a problem, project yourself as a saviour and rule over people)!
This dirty politics is prevalent in both countries, but in different forms. In India, it is the corrupt politicians and in Pakistan, it is in the form of their power hungry military dictators. Question is how do we de-motivate these guys from pursuing their objectives (in my personal opinion, I don't think they can be stopped)?
Well, both countries need massive and fast economic development. Why do you think one takes to corruption or dictatorship? For power and money, of course. Now, just consider if a society is self sufficient in economic terms, then nobody cares for someone else who is richer, because it doesn't make a difference to one's lifestyle.
Majority people can focus only on their work and business. If this solution is acceptable, then immediately both countries need to go in for heavy industrial investment, increase their domestic productivity, generate employment and thereby keep people busy in their work, so that there is no need for common man to take to crime. If criminals reduce, then corrupt politicians and power hungry dictators become handicapped and stand weakened. Slowly, they phase out.
I do understand that such a solution may sound very simple, but a lot of us will probably believe that it is impossible. Well, it is we, the people who can make it possible. All we need to do is believe in above, and compel our respective governments to follow suit. If not in our lifetime, at least our children will get to live in a peaceful society !
