All alone, I walk down the lonely street
I see couples together, holding hands
I look at myself
At my old grey sweater, and worn out jeans,
In this world, it was just me.
No cat or dog or goldfish
No man again in my life.

With all my courage, all my might and love
I walk to his door like a ran-wet-cat
Two knocks is all that will call him
I hear his trudging footsteps and the door opening
With a shy smile, I say, “It’s just me”

That never really
