May is Zombie Awareness Month. It was chosen because many zombie movies take place in the month of May. Movies such as Night of the Living Dead and even Dawn of the Dead. Maybe there's something about spring. The zombies climb out of their graves in a cemetery like flowers climb out of their beds in a garden. This May, there are a few things you can do to promote the importance of Zombie Awareness Month.

*Wear a gray ribbon*

Gray is the color for Zombie Awareness Month. Gray represents the skin color of the living dead that will soon plague us. This pandemic will cause the zombie apocalypse. By wearing a gray ribbon, people will likely stop and ask you about it. This will give you the chance to explain about Zombie Awareness Month and what the living dead will do to us, and our world, if we are not prepared. Keep stressing your point even if they walk away and tell you that you are crazy. It's the nonbelievers that will get turned to zombies first, adding to the zombie army.

*Watch zombie films to learn and understand more about this growing problem.*

Watching zombie films are an excellent way to spend Zombie Awareness Month this May. These movies provide priceless information about zombies. You can learn how they act, and what they will do to get to your brains. You can watch the people who get killed to learn what not to do, and keep a closer eye on the survivors for good tips on staying alive.

*Start a neighborhood zombie watch*

Hand out flyers to all your neighbors, telling them that you want to start a zombie watch this May for Zombie Awareness Month. Prepare snacks, and make sure your rifle is well oiled. When guests arrive, make them feel at home. First, explain the importance of a neighborhood zombie watch. Tell them that this is just the beginning, but by being able to rid your area of zombies if any appear, is a great first step toward the coming zombie pandemic. For the first meeting, explain how to kill zombies, and even let members try a few practice shots with your rifle. Have a zombie dummy set up for this. During subsequent meetings, teach them more about protecting themselves, other weapons, how to move stealthily, etc. Finally, at the end of the month go on a zombie raid, traveling through the neighborhood looking for zombies. With this knowledge, your neighbors will be one step closer to surviving the apocalypse.

*Create a zombie plan.*

If you haven't done this already, it's about time you got started. What better time than during Zombie Awareness Month? Some recommended reading when putting together your zombie plan is Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austin and Seth Grahame-Smith. The Zombie Survival Guide contains very important information on surviving the zombie pandemic. You will learn about weapons, vehicles, and how to fortify your home. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is a must read. Those sisters kicked zombie butt without the help of semi-automatic weapons. When technology fails you during the apocalypse, having those knife and karate skills will save your life.
