Poetry: On love

Oh Dear! Oh My!

Oh Dear! Oh My!
Alone again...but why?

He doesn't even speak to me,
nor will he read my fax,
I must have hurt his pride indeed,
as if I'd dropped hot wax
on tender skin.
And useless is my sorrow,
no matter how I sigh.
I'd make it up tomorrow,
but he won't let me try.

I've cried and moaned,
and begged and pleaded,
but justice takes its course.
"You should not be forgiven"

he thundered in my ear,
"because you've made the same mistake
too many times, 's that clear?".

I thought and thought about his words
and could not understand...
what's wrong with asking more than once
and saying that he should spend
more time with me
or maybe....

....was hoping for his lips,
just once, to say that thing,
the thing that melts your heart and soul
like snow melts in the Spring.

But he said "No, I won't,
that would just be too much.
God knows what you would do
if only I'd let you touch
the tender side of me.
Be gone, and hear as much:
expecting love is always wrong
when it comes from a need,
for when you truly love someone
you want them to be freed
of all that ties and binds
and makes a slave of them.
But you don't understand such things.
I better go". And when
he left I thought:
"I sure as Heaven wanted
to give him love and joy.
I never wanted to put chains
around this gorgeous boy.
He must not know me
or maybe,
he chooses not to know,
for when I held his hand
I felt his Spirit glow."

I miss you gorgeous boy
wherever you may be
and never for a moment
will I forsake of thee
the memory I cherish
much more than gems and gold,
of one such gorgeous love of mine
that I could never hold.
