Poetry: Let me go

by Ray Burke

Created on: April 18, 2010

Your smile once enlightened me

Your eyes brought me clarity

Your voice commanded me

Your laughter refreshed me

~

But now wash me away with your tears

I won’t miss you.

Smother me with your cries of despair

I won’t hear you.

I won’t break

I am a mountain of hardened stone

A soul made of stuff to be alone.

~

Your touch will burn me

Your breath will deaden me

I am buried under your presence

Leave me

Forswear me

Forget me.

~

Let me be
