Lost chance.
Why is it that we have begun to need to send our messages
from such great distances?
Was it so wrong for me to say I love you to your face,
standing in front of you?
Why, as I see now, was my fear too great to lift my anxious,
smiling mask to you
And so for you to clearly see my yearning for your hugs
and kisses and embrace?
Why is it that you sent me all those books to read and tell me to
get closer to my “Self?”
To see as others see me? I’m sure now that you tried to free me
Of my errant doubts
That I too had the right to see my truth! I do now… but took
too long to tell you!
So, once again: “ ‘t was Puck who shook our Cupid’s bow,”
The arrow went astray…
