What to eat at a regular restaurant when you're a vegetarian?

Sometimes it is difficult to find a good vegetarian menu at a restaurant. Vegetarians are generally side lined, and preference is given to meat eaters as vegetarians make up the minority of eaters. There are certain ethnic restaurants like Indian restaurants where vegetarian cuisine is catered at quite a high level. Unfortunately not all restaurants cater that well for vegetarians.

The most popular vegetarian dish that any restaurant will serve is a vegetarian burger with a plate of chips. This is not the most enticing meal but if you do not know the menu that the restaurant offers , it is advisable to phone up the restaurant and decide if it is worthwhile spending the evening at that place. Many restaurants do not have a good vegetarian menu. 

Some restaurants do have healthy eating options that are strictly vegetarian cuisine. Some include green salads and roasted vegetables on the side. Some menus include starters like crumbed mushrooms and garlic bread. Vegetarians who are fussy need to make sure that the food has been handled separately from meat. Other starters can include vegetable spring rolls, and samosas. These starters ideally come with sauces that can taste utterly divine.

Some resturants class eggs and seafood as vegetarian. Vegetarins need to be very careful about this as most vegetarians do not eat eggs and fish. Resturants that serve these meals are generally Chinese resturnats and people need to be able to understand what the ingredients of each platter in the menu reads. This means taking that extra time to ask the waiter about the menu.

Beans and tofu have become popular vegetarian foods. These are also the new health conscious food lover's choice and tofu is quite a popular choice at most restaurants today. Thai restaurants have very tasty and wholesome vegetarian cuisine, and this helps in choosing a good vegetarian dish. Green curries are extremely delicious. Indian restaurants offer a wide range of curries as well as pannier and pickles. Nan bread is also a great vegetarian dish.

Vegetarians tend to have a problem when it comes to going out and eating. Most restaurants cater for vegetarians to the minimum and they do not have much choice. Over the years there has been a rise in organic and health restaurants, and many vegetarians tend to support these restaurants.
