Penny Penguin likes to pretend. This week Penny had decided to pretend to be anything that begins with the letter P.
On Monday, Penny pretends she is a pirate with a parrot on her shoulder. The parrot’s name is Petey. Penny and Petey search the pirate ship looking for something to eat. All they could find were plantains and pineapples. They were delicious!
On Tuesday, Penny pretends she is a park ranger, and her job is to keep the park safe and clean. On her rounds, she finds a polar bear family having a picnic. They invite Penny to join them and eat papaya, pretzels, and pecan pie with them. Penny had never tasted these foods before, and guess what? They were delicious!
On Wednesday, Penny pretends she is a paratrooper. Wearing her parachute, Penny jumps from a plane and lands right into the middle of a pumpkin patch. This pumpkin patch belonged to Mr. Peabody. He was so surprised to see a penguin in the middle of his patch, he wasn’t mad at her for smashing his pumpkins. Instead, he offered her a piece of pumpkin pie, a bag of frozen peas, a peach, and a jar of pickles to take home with her. Penny thought that the peach and pie were delicious.
On Thursday, Penny decided she wanted to stay home with her parents and pretend that she was perfect at playing the piano in her parlor. Her parents were pleased that she practiced so hard playing the piano perfectly; they said she could go to the playground for the rest of the day.
On Friday, Penny pretended to go Paris. In Paris, Penny met a parakeet and a pelican. The three of them decided to peddle across the pond in a paddle boat. Upon reaching the other side of the pond, they met a peacock. The peacock gave them each a pebble as a prize for paddling all the way across the pond. The parakeet, pelican, and Penny were so hungry from paddling; they each had a slice of pizza. It was delicious!
On Saturday, Penny pretended she was the head of a parade wearing pink pom-poms, and marching with a purple pig wearing a petunia in his hat. The people watching cheered and cheered for Penny and the purple pig while throwing popcorn in the air for the pig to catch. The popcorn was delicious!
On Sunday, Penny was plumb tired from all of the pretending, she decided to go to her best friend’s house, Patty, and play patty cake and complete a puzzle. The two friends a pleasant time playing together, but Penny couldn’t wait to Monday. On Monday, Penny was going to pretend to be anything that began with the letter N.
