by ann black

Marilyn Manson born Brian Hugh Warner in Canton, Ohio, to Hugh and Barbara
Warner on January 5, 1969. His father is a carpet salesman who fought in
the Vietnam War and had been heavily exposed to Agent Orange, known for its
severe adverse mental and physical effects. Manson recalls from a special
event and programs for children with birth defects from Agent Orange that
he was the only normal child there without any mental or physical
problems. He attended Heritage Christian School but felt alienated by the
fear and hypocrisy that is so common in these types of schools. Eventually
this alienation led him to act out to try to get expelled only to find that
because his parents paid for him to go to the private school, and that the
school was funded mostly on payments from other parents unlike public
schools, Heritage would not expel him because it was in need of the
money. Some of things that got him into trouble where simple petty things
such as selling candy at school at jacked prices, boot leg cassette tapes,
MAD magazine parody, etc. The school was Episcopalian which is described
in "The Long Hard Out Of Hell" as the diet version of Catholic. One of his
early interests, roller skating, let him to meet with a skating partner
named "Lisa". She was a sickly, congested and partially deaf girl with a
famous fraudulent preacher father. Some of his other hobbies included
exploring the basement of his grandfathers house with his cousin
Chad. Part of the excitement of exploring this basement was the collection
of pornographic paraphernalia that his grandfather kept down there along
with his model trains. He attended and graduated from Glen Oak High School
where he joined the band hoping to play bass or drums but ended up playing
the triangle. After his graduation he and his family moved to Fort
Lauderdale, Florida when he studied Journalism and Theater at Broward
Community College. He was then hired to be a Staff Writer at Fort
Lauderdale's 25th Parallel Magazine. He started to form his own band
Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, which consisted of John5 (John Lowery -
guitar) 1998 to 2004, Twiggy Ramirez (Jeordie White - bass) 1993 to 2002,
Daisy Berkovitz (Scott Putesky - guitar) 1989 to 1996, Gidget Gein (Brad
Stewart - bass) 1990 to 1993, Zim/Sara Lee/Olivia/Zsa Zsa/Zim Zum (Timothy
Michael Linton - 1996 to 1998), Sara Lee Lucas (Freddie Streithorst) 1990
to 1995, Olivia Newton Bundy (Brian Tutunick - 1990) Zsa Zsa Speck (Perry
Pandrea - 1990). The more current line-up consists of Marilyn Manson - the
singer and the protagonist, Pogo Madonna (Wayne Gacy - keyboards), Ginger
Fish - (drums) and Tim Skold on bass guitar. Some of his musical
influences are The Beatles, KISS, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Iggy Pop, Black
Sabbath, David Bowie and Gary Numan. His persona name represents the
beauty and the evil that he sees in himself. His profane acts on stage are
an attempt to get society to think and to realize what it has become and
the hypocrisy that shown on a regular basis. He has directed and been
involved in movies such as pornographic actor in David Lynch's Lost
Highway, Jawbreaker, supporting role in 2003's Party Monster. He makes an
appearance in Bowling for Columbine speaking on the effect his music may
have had on the perpetrators. He is also featured in "The Heart Is
Deceitful Above All Things" and "Living Neon Dreams". He was engaged and
briefly dated Rose McGowan, then dated and married on December 3, 2005to
