Things to do with mom on Mother's Day

Created on: April 15, 2010

Mother's Day is a special time of year for women all around the world.  It's a day to celebrate your children and having one of the most rewarding jobs on the planet.

But how can you celebrate Mother's Day?  What sort of things can you and your mom do?  There are things you can do that involve money and things you can do that don't involve any money whatsoever.  And no matter what your age, you can celebrate countless way to show your mom how special she is to you.

Here are few helpful ideas:

1.) Sneak into moms house before she wakes up and cook her breakfast, make her coffee, get her the paper, whatever she likes to do in the morning.  Every mom loves breakfast bed!

2.) Have a spa day at home with your mom and both hers and your mom friends.  Paint toenails, do each other's hair and makeup, have everyone bring a snack or treat, tea, coffee or better yet a glass of wine.  Get the men to watch the kids, and if one of your friends has a foot-soaker get them to bring it and make a grand ole day of it.  Best part, the cost is free!

3.) Go for a walk.  When was the last time just you and your mom went for a walk together?  It's amazing but I bet it's been awhile.  So why don't you?  Just you and mom pick a spot you both love, a lake or trail and go for a slow walk together.  Even better, pack a picnic lunch to take with you and a blanket so you can sit and enjoy each other's company and catch up on things.

4.) Get old photographs of mom, your family, you growing up and put them all together on a dvd as a show.  There are lots of free movie creators available for free on the web to help you do this with ease like Slideroll.com, Windows Movie Maker.  Then invite mom over for a night of entertainment and a show.  Make popcorn, have goodies and kick back to relive some of your greatest moments with mom.

5.) Create a scrapbook of the grand-kids (if you have them) or of you growing up for mom.  Pictures are often kept in boxes or closets and should be shared.  Mom is sure to appreciate all the work you've done, and creating scrapbook pages online is easy and even free for you to print out and place in an album.  There are thousands of sites to help with this, just Google (free scrapbooking) and you will be on your way.

No matter what you decide to do with mom on Mother's Day, make her a card, take her out to lunch, have a family dinner, get your hair done.  Just remember to be there, make the time and effort to celebrate with her.  Mom's love spending the day with their kids and Mother's Day is the best day ever to do that and show mom just how much appreciate her!
