Today I want to tell you the story of my very first day in Ultima Online, and anything online for that matter. I remember it quite fondly as it was the day I became a man. It was the day of all days. And this is how it all happened:
“What? Where am I?” I asked myself. I was standing in the middle of a small courtyard with people walking about with their business and gypsies prancing along toward the town shoppe.
I learned to take my first few steps when a person by the name “Blackie” stepped in front of me.
“How do ya do sir, anything I may help you with?” He said to me. I told him how much I would love to make some money and buy cool armor with it. He thought for a moment and said “Here, I got the perfect thing for you.”
He ran to a nearby building and yelled “BANK!” at the people standing inside. Im not really sure what happened but he returned and handed me an axe.
“What am I supposed to do with this kind sir?” I asked him. “Well, your gonna be chopping down some trees, what else would ya do with an axe.” I kindly gave him a stare and mumbled “Uh sure okay.”
So I followed my new, strange, friend into some nearby woods and he told me any and every way to chop down a tree and harvest boards. What a kind thing to do I thought to myself. I will repay this man as soon as I can with some of the money I make from harvesting boards.
I chopped and chopped until my arms could take no more chopping and gathered my harvest to take to town. The carpenter was more than willing to buy every single last board from me, crooked or not and for a pretty penny I might add.
What to do with my new found wealth? I thought some good ole ribs would do the trick so I hustled up to the inn and ordered a nice big rack of ribs. A minute after I had placed my order with the waitress, a strange looking fellow walked through the doors. Dust billowed from his boots every time he took a step like a rock being thrown into a pit of ash. He slowly walked toward me and greeted me only with a “Nod”.
I nodded back in return and he moved a step toward me. “How are you sir?” I squeaked. “Not so bad my young friend, not so bad”. As he moved closer I could read a name imprinted on his tunic. “Piatchi” spelled with spaces inbetween each letter. P-I-A-T-C-H-I. “Piatchi” I blurted out by mistake. “What do you want with that name boy”
