If you have ever tried to start a blog (or if you have one), there is little doubt that some days a new blog post looms over you like a dark cloud. No matter what, you cannot think of anything to write, the well has run completely dry. When this happens, you need to know how to come up with new ideas for your blog. Here are a few ideas that can help:
• PLRs - Private Label Right’s article websites can often provide you with new ideas for your blog. While it is never a good idea to use these articles to replace a blog post, reading a few can help you come up with a fresh perspective. Garnering fresh ideas from PLR's can help you come up with new ideas for your blog.
• News - Explore the latest news stories that relate to your blogs theme. Simply type keywords into a Google search and see what the latest information is. You can provide an opinion piece, a review or simply a standard blog post about the news that affects your readers.
• Twitter - Log into Twitter and use their search feature to see what interesting Tweets are occurring about your specific blog topic. Write your blog post then "tweet" that post to drive interest and traffic. Since there is already discussion happening, you stand a greater chance of your blog post being read.
• Websites - Find other websites that relate to the overall theme of your blog. Take advantage of your "dry spell" and write a review about that website. Include benefits, disadvantages, ease of use and layout and other information that readers may find helpful.
• Create a survey – If you simply cannot find something to write about, create a survey asking people about something specific that has to do with your blog. Contact your readers through E-Mail or Twitter and encourage them to respond. You can ask about a number of things such as how they rate your blog, how valuable they find the blog, how many posts do they think are appropriate in a week and other similar topics.
• Run a contest – Run a contest on your blog. You can offer a gift certificate for a micro-lending opportunity, a gift certificate on Amazon or something else of value. You can have some fun with this by asking readers to “suggest a title” which could provide you with a lot of future blog posts as well.
• Widgets and RSS Feeds – Another viable option is to use an article widget (like those found here at Helium) or an RSS feed to create a blog post for you. This should typically be considered to be a solution of last resort, though this option can provide you with longer lasting SEO benefits.
Summary
Nothing is more frustrating than sitting in front of your computer and looking at a blank blog post in front of you. If you are fresh out of ideas for posting to your blog, these tips can help you come up with new ideas for blog posts.
