Reflections: Fallen angels

by William Wraithe

Created on: April 15, 2010

There are many terms for Fallen Angels through the pages of the past and even in the present day. In war-time, fallen angels are the soldiers who have died in action; in religious terms, fallen angels are angels that have fallen from the grace of God - thus, they have become demons, or spirits of a more sinister nature. In the metaphysical and Occult world, Fallen Angels are referred to as Spirits that one can evoke or invoke to achieve a means that would change our paradigms.  Whatever the terminology, fallen angels are an iconic symbol of good versus evil, and the wars that rage to keep the balance.

Religious View:

Every Bible of the world has passages and examples of Fallen Angels. It is described or mentioned how one angel rebelled against the creator and led others to their Fall. Not every bible or religious text is the same, but all in all, it has the same story and the same lessons being taught within the pages. Fallen Angels, in this aspect, are a 'what-not-to-do', type morale of the story belief. The morale of that lesson is - if you go against the creator, you will be punished and cast away from his love and light.

Occult View:

In the popular book collection 'The Keys of Solomon' (which is comprised of many books), Fallen Angels are referred to as Goetic Spirits, and one who reads the book can summon them to do tasks. The individual, also called the Exorcist, has the necessary means to perform these functions if he/she follows the instructions that are listed. These books has a section of angels as well, but mostly target fallen angels (or demons). Most of the books go into detail on how each angel fell and became caught by King Solomon, which the knowledge was given to him by God, so that he could use them at his disposal. It states in the bible that King Solomon became the greatest king that had ever lived, as well as stated in the Keys as well as other books of the New Age.

My Personal View:

Fallen angels are a metaphor meant for us as a personal goal to balance out the good and evil of our souls. It is also a lesson to teach us that, as a people, we can strive for the greater good and do not have to travel the path of darkness. I have seen many things in my life. I have witnessed things that I thought were not possible aswell. Being open-minded has led me to new discoveries ever since I was young, and I will never regret those experiences. Every new insight, every discovered wonder, every misfortune and setback has shaped me into who I am today. Being given abilities to see these things, and experience them first-hand, have made me a better person to the point where I have augmented my hope to a whole new level of understanding. I believe that the world has potential, that through our own goals and inspirations we, as a whole, will find enlightenment. Through the messages and depictions of the Fallen will we know what to do to succeed. It is by these lessons and morals that, in time, will influence us to do right and good. Every source of text - whether it be occult, religious, or otherwise - have provided us answers for this path. That being said, I know in my heart that we will succeed towards this goal.
