Mutualism or biological organisms that benefit one another is the result of eco friendly living. Personally restricting your use of water, electricity, gas and oil saves money as well as precious irreplaceable resources. Every time we conserve water volumes of water are available to other users or just remain unused to participate in the hydration cycle where water is necessary in the atmosphere and in the ground to create more water. In our homes we can become mindful of not letting water run unless we have to filter water. Not letting water run means turning off the tap between glasses of water or until we compete hand washing or teeth brushing or dish washing. In the bathroom not letting water run means taking baths instead of showers or turning the shower off to wash and then turning the shower back on to rinse after washing ourselves. Installing low flush toilets in our bathrooms or keeping a one-quart bottle in the toilet tank reduces the amount of water by gallons every time we flush the toilet. Flushing the toilet after each use is not necessary also saving gallons of water.
Saving water to grow a garden begins with new ideas about what plants should be planted. There are plants that use large amount of water such as avocados, tomatoes, and taro. There are plants that use small amounts of water such as prickly pear cactus that America never developed for commercial use. Prickly pear benefits diabetics. Aloe grows well with small amounts of water and is drinkable beneficial to people with estrogen dominance and Type A blood. Aloe juice is also cleansing food that combines with other fruits canned by Thailand. Water containers that you can put a lid on collecting water in areas of the garden where there are water needful plants is invaluable to non garden hose watering and water conservation. Mulches that retain water around plants that need water are yet another way to be eco friendly saving both water and money. Water costs ore than cut grass and plant trimmings used as mulch.
Communities have little input into private building designs but city planners can require recycling water for fountains or artificial waterfalls. Green Building awards give prestige to buildings that recycle their water including on site sewage treatment. If we could redesign entire cities before the high costs of sewer repair become necessary to create on site sewage treatment is the farsighted idea that would save municipalities
