Why are people having such a hard time with the metric system? It is the easiest system of measurement to know. And some of you are saying you wouldn't know if someone told you something is 100km away, but you would know know if it were 62 miles away. Well, yes. Of course that's true. That is because you are used to miles, and you can't comprehend how far a kilometer really is. It's all in getting used to. That would be the same as speaking a different language. Same meaning, different words.
The metric system is based around the number 10. Only on the number 10. Not like the Imperial system in which you have to remember 12, 3, etc... Before I go any further, I just want to say that I was born in Europe, where the metric system came from. So, I have a bit of a bias towards it, but only because I like it better. Oh, here's how it works, for those that don't know.
Let's start with millimeters. 10 millimeters in a centimeter, 10 centimeters in a decimeter, 10 decimeters in a meter, and 1000 meters in a kilometer. The same applies to liters and grams. Now, why is that so hard?
