Getting pregnant after your tubes are tied

Getting your tubes tied ensures you the safety of not getting pregnant, or so you think.  There are risks and there is still a percentage that the operation will not give your promised results you expect.  There was a woman who had problems getting pregnant when she first tried after getting married.  It took her over two and a half years to get pregnant with her first child.  She had a healthy baby girl and then, four years later, she was blessed with another healthy baby girl.  She was so happy and felt blessed, considering how long it had taken compared to some of her friends who also had difficulty conceiving.

She and her husband decided they would not push their luck.  Having her tubes tied seemed like the best option.   They knew and were reassured this procedure would protect them from any surprise pregnancies.  They decided they would adopt another child and set up the interview.  They were on a list to be potential adoptive parents.  They went ahead with the surgery.  Five months after having her tubes tied, the woman was feeling odd and felt a "lump" in her stomach.  That lump turned out to be a baby.  She was four months pregnant.  She was obviously shocked but also she was thrilled.  Having had such trouble getting pregnant previously, she considered this quite a miracle.  The baby, a boy, was born five months later.  They decided to remove their names from the adoption list.  Imagine if that process had been faster or if she hadn't become pregnant so quickly, they would have had two more children instead of just the one they adopted.

She was lucky.  There are so many risks involved when this happens.  Because she didn't even suspect she could be pregnant, she didn't care for herself the way she would have had she known she was also caring for a developing baby.  She drank alcohol and smoked cigarettes and exercised vigorously, unaware that a baby was growing inside of her.

You need to ensure the operation was successful.  There was another situation where a man had a vasectomy and his wife ended up pregnant shortly after.  He suspected at first that she might have had an affair.  He didn't think he was capable of getting her pregnant.  Both of these situations turned out fine but realize there is always a risk that the surgery did not do what it was supposed to.
