Mother's Day gift ideas for first time moms

First time moms deserve something very special for Mother's Day. They spend hours sacrificing comfort, sleep, and "doing their own thing" for the love and care of their precious new little one. They have recently been through the grueling physical experience of carrying their unborn babies and then birthing them. This can be a hard and time consuming experience.

As a first time mom, 10 years ago, I remember feeling so happy to be a mother, glad and grateful to be given the gift of a precious baby and allowed to care for her on my own. I enjoyed being called a mother and having the honor of celebrating Mother's Day as a mother. Even though I and most other moms chose to become moms and feel it is our purpose and we do not feel we need gifts, first time moms do deserve to be honored and praised.

Here are some simple, inexpensive, and special gift ideas for first time moms.

1) Coupons from dad promising less demands, back rubs, chores done by someone else, cooking done by dad, or a special treat provided by someone else.

2) Arrange for a helper or babysitter to come over one day while mom gets some rest, or does something she enjoys, or even gets some chores done. This is a time for her to do anything she chooses to do.

3) Arrange for mom to go out shopping by herself or out to lunch with a friend.

4) Take the baby out of the house and let mom have some alone time and peace and quiet in the house.

5) Give mom a whole day free from chores. Someone else will need to cook and clean, while she rests and takes care of the baby.

6) Give her a gift card to one of her favorite restaurants or coffee shops.

7) Show her love and appreciation for her hard work and sacrifice. Tell her how well she is doing and how thankful you are that she takes care of this sweet baby. Write it in a note or tell her in person.

8) Give her a journal or organizer. Many moms find this to be very helpful and make life easier.

These are a few things that would honor moms and let them know how valued and appreciated they are for doing such an important job, yet also give them a little break and time to enjoy something else outside of mothering. This will only make for a more relaxed and appreciative mom. It will help her to get more energy and better enable to do her wonderful job.
