Money saving tips for military families

Along with my fellow military spouses we all look at ways to save money and how to live on a military paycheck.  That paycheck may not be as big as others or at the lowest end but there is money to be saved no matter how much you make it is wise to save the money.  I find many different ways to save money.

1.  I check out an area well before shopping at the store because I want to know if they give a military discount and if so how much is it.?  Home Depot gives a military discount of 10%.  In some parts of the store the small hardware on the corner may give a 20% discount.  I like to check prices to ensure your getting the best deal before purchase the item.

2.  I love freebies and samples that come in the mail.  The samples usually come with a great coupon off the item.  So you get to try the item for free and if you choose to purchase it then you have a great coupon to purchase it with.  Freebies at the commissary are also a great way to get to sample the product before you spend the money on it plus they almost always have coupons off their products.

3.  Use your coupons along with the what the commissary has a sale on.  You can visit the DECA website and put in where you live and you can see what is on sale and for what price.  From there you can sit down a make a menu for however time you shop and your set.  Then with the list you check  your coupons and also you can check online for coupons because the commissary does accept them.  The commissary does have a dent section, that is merchandise that the packaging is messed it up there you can get some great stuff cheap and in most cases if you have a coupon for it you can use that as well.  I do not do this on meat there is a dent section for meat but I am picky when it comes to that.  I save on the other items so I can get the meat I want.

4.  Many business offer military discounts even some places like Sea World offer free tickets for military.  You can also save a ton of money at the ITT ticket office.  They offer everything from discounted movie tickets to cruises the prices are a fraction of what you would pay at the door.

In closing I hope I have given you some tips to save money on a military pay check.
