This review is for Mythbusters.

History

Mythbusters is a science entertainment program which is produced by a company called Beyond Television Production. The show currently airs on the Discovery channel in the UK on channel 520 on Sky and is on most week nights around 7pm. Every episode is on for 43 minutes and they are screened around the world.

The Team

Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman are the two Mythbusters who have been there since the start and have over 30 years experience in the art of special effects. They usually carry out the myths at M5 Industries which is owned by Hyneman.

They usually work on the bigger myths and have many smart ways of replicating results to the best of their ability. Jamie is a miserable man and he sort of plays this figure whilst Adam is the comedy man and they are at times a double act.

Due to the show gaining more and more myths they have added other members to the team and they are a trio of people who work together. These 3 are now working in their own area away from the two others and explore their own myths and they tend to do the less expensive ones and work on them in much more detail in my view.

How the show works

This show is one of those which aim to prove if myths we have heard about throughout our lives are real or fake and they try to replicate the circumstances and from that point onwards evaluate the results. Each episode tries to focus on the popular beliefs and internet rumours which fuel myths. The show will look around the internet for random myths or ones we are all aware of and they use those as the source to the episode.

They will try and develop a strategy in order to test out the myth and they usually start small scale. So if they have to test a myth involving the speed of a vehicle and crossing a hole in the road they would do this using a smaller scale test first before going ahead and testing it in normal size. They try and make sure the myth is done in the best possible way without any outside interference which could alter the results. They try and make sure all myths are done in the best conditions and they use abandoned air fields or ship yards and seem to have at times and unlimited
