The issues around nuclear power

Nuclear Power

Again the environmentalists start with their back to the Stone Age processions. Aagh nuclear power! My god it's frightening! Yes, the word nuclear raises a fear in our hearts, like the thought of your child sharing a bed with a well known once black American pop star. Nuclear? We don't want to go there!

Why?

Nuclear energy is by far the cleanest form of energy. A nuclear power station works much like a conventional fossil fuel burning power station, with one difference. Nothing is burned. They work by separating the nuclei of massive elements; this releases massive amounts of energy. It's a phenomenon that occurs naturally throughout the universe, as is gravity, magnetism and even radio waves.

I don't hear environmentalists complaining about magnets or the health effects gravity has upon us. Nuclear energy is at present the only way forward. I realise that there is a waste issue to be dealt with, but given time that waste can be used and converted back into its original form, with even more energy released from it. This would be nuclear fusion, as apposed the nuclear fission we use today.

We don't yet have the technology to use nuclear fusion in an efficient manner, but once we do, we'll be creating power from seemingly nothing.

The environmentalists want a stop to nuclear power, but they want a stop to conventional power generating too. Wind power raises issues of an aesthetic nature and hydro electric power just isn't viable.

We need power to carry on with our lifestyles. Don't be scared of the word nuclear. Look into it, it's fascinating. The health and environmental issues of nuclear are far less than burning fossil fuels. Don't let the ill educated protagonists let you believe otherwise or soon we'll all be made to monitor the amount of oxygen we consume, in case it causes problems to a blueberry growing halfway up mount Fiji!

Nuclear is amazing, support it. If you don't believe me, research it yourself, like I did. Who could be a better judge? Yourself, or an idealistic, flower power, cannabis smoking, work avoiding, save the trees, anti-society; destroy all that we work for lesbian?

It's up to you.
