Drink recipes: Sloe comfortable screw

While some frou-frou cocktails with lots of fruit and little umbrellas can be tasty and fun, sometimes, you just want to take out the guesswork and kick back with something simple. A Sloe Comfortable Screw is a drink that not only has a fun, slightly naughty name, but it boasts a sweet and refreshing flavor. They are incredibly easy to make. I promise that it is nearly impossible to mess this one up, so even the most inexperienced bartender can find solace in creating these for guests. Or, if you are feeling in a "wink-wink" sort of mood, serve up a pair of these: one for you, and one for the love in your life. Relaxation and romance guaranteed!

There are dozens of variations on a Sloe Comfortable Screw, but if you ask my opinion, nothing beats this one. This incredibly simple recipe is my personal favorite take on it and is proof that less is often more!

SLOE COMFORTABLE SCREW COCKTAIL RECIPE

I cannot stress enough the importance of using fresh-squeezed orange juice in this recipe. Using packaged juice just will not yield the same results. If you absolutely must, I recommend the "Simply Orange" juice, which tastes much better than most processed orange juices available in grocery stores. But again, it is really worth the little bit of extra effort to provide a fresh-squeezed treat for your Sloe Comfortable Screw.

INGREDIENTS

2 measures sloe gin
4 measures fresh-squeezed orange juice
Cracked ice cubes
Slice of orange

DIRECTIONS

1. Fill a shaker with cracked ice cubes.

2. Pour the 2 measures of sloe gin and 4 measures of fresh-squeezed orange juice into the shaker.

3. Shake vigorously until well frosted.

4. Pour the drink into a chilled highball glass.

5. Decorate the drink by garnishing it with a slice of orange.
