When comes a time in our life to choose the one person we are going to spend our life with, we need to know why did we choose that special someone to be our soul mate. When I was little I loved fairytales. There was always a girl who meets her prince charming and she knows, from the first moment, that he is the man for her. But how does she know that? What makes him so different from the others that princess met? Why do fairytales always end up with – Happily ever after?

Reading and learning on examples of Andersen and Grimm I started to believe that there is someone special for me too, and that I'll know that from the first moment I look at him. But things went in a bit different direction. I grew up and the first thing I've learned as an adult was that fairytales don't happen in a real world. You don't know whether someone is right for you until you meet him, until you find out about his flaws and mistakes he made in past. You can't tell by just looking at somebody is he or isn't he the kind of person you want to spend your life with. Why? Because people have more faces than fairytale characters. It's all so simple in dreamland. They have good guys and bad guys, and it's easy to decide which one you want. Real life men are different. They can be good and give you everything you ever dreamed about, or they can be really bad and break your heart just like that.

What is the meaning of the first look? You don't fall in love by just looking at someone. That first impression is pure animal instinct that leads you to that person. We are all superficial, and look does matter, but the look won't tell us how our life is going to be. We can imagine ourselves happy and madly in love with someone, but the reality could be totally different. The look is nothing more but the look and it can go both ways. We can decide to go for the one we see, or we can just ignore it and move on. So basically it all comes down to our decision. We all know that love isn't rational, and that we are ready to make anything for the ones we love, but are we ready to do the same for someone we just saw once? I know that I'm not. Not until I meet him better, not until I find myself loving him. And that is something that comes later in relationship. It comes when you actually learn to love somebody and when you've made a call to follow the look.

Love at first sight is nothing more but the moment when we decide that we want to try to develop love through time. And it cannot exist if we make decision of its existence. Because true love is something you can't control and something that you have to deal with as the time goes by.
