Have you ever noticed that some of the best poetry is written about a broken heart, does that not say that good poetry is heart felt? Of course with out using your mind to put things in order you really don't have much to work with. Poetry comes from the heart is properly placed by the mind.
While many people can put together great works from their mind not many can do this without searching their heart. I'm not talking solely about poetry of pain and a broken heart, some of the great limericks that bring a smile to your face over and over again ar deeply heartfelt scenarios that are put into words.
Poetry in essence is a feeling expressed by words and recieved as such, these words provoke a feeling of gratitude, happiness or pain. A great writer can warm your skin with his words, expressing the day in the sun or warmth of the beach sand on his toes. With out feelings poetry is simply an accumulation of words set before you, your emotions can pull feelings from these words but it is much better to be written from the heart to touch another heart.
