Freelancing comes with a set of challenges and it is very important that you, as a freelancer, be aware of them. Freelancing is not easy. You are going to be completely on your own and sometimes the path can get a bit lonely. Here are some vital tips that will help you in building up your freelancing career.
Decide Part-time or Full-time
This decision makes a lot of difference in the amount of hours you will be able to and willing to out in your daily work when you start freelancing. In turn, that decision will affect your incoming pay. If you currently hold a full time job, it is best that you avoid quitting for the time being. You should only consider leaving your job if you are sure that you are able to land jobs and that too after successfully completing several freelancing opportunities. You will then be able to gauge how much you are capable of making and the possibilities if increasing the income.
Maintain a Credible Portfolio
No matter what freelancing career you are in it pays to make sure you have a portfolio. Portfolio should consist of your samples or previous works. Also, you should try getting some testimonials from your previous clients to add credibility. If you do not have any freelancing experience yet, your samples will do. However ensure that they are exceptionally well done. Your portfolio is the first step in showing your client what you are worth.
Keep your Price Right
Now don’t start quoting exorbitant prices for your freelancing. This will definitely put clients off and will put a barrier in their communication as well as diminish any chance of them approaching you. Therefore, do a research on the freelancing market first before deciding on the rate. The best way to do this is by registering yourself as a freelancer at any of the freelance job portals.
More often than not, the clients who are posting job ads will quote their preferred pricing. The lowest bidder will usually get the chance based on their reviews or job experience as well. However, you will still stand a chance if you quote anything near and provide better-than-the-rest sample to start with.
Meet the Deadlines
Freelancing should be treated with as much respect or even more than you actually respect your full time job, for example. This means you must ensure that you go all out and do your assignments well as on time. Timeliness is as important as quality to ensure you keep getting freelancing opportunities. Not only will you get repeat work form the same
