Buying a Mother's Day gift can be difficult for some. It isn't that you don't want to give a nice gift, but more to the point is knowing exactly what to give. You want that perfect gift that conveys just how much you love her, and at the same time, you want to give her something nice that she might actually want or need. A bouquet of pretty flowers, or a soft robe are nice, but let's face it, you've been giving those same gifts to her every year. After all the things she has done for you throughout your life, what could you possibly give that shows your appreciation? Here are a few different gift suggestions that might come in handy this year.
Gifts Under $20.00
~ Monogrammed or seasonal front door mat.
~ Catch-all bag with pockets on the inside to use for shopping. The pockets can be filled with coupons you've already clipped for her, pen and padded paper for shopping lists and a small calculator. For extra bonus, you might want to include a list of grandchildren's clothing sizes...just in case.
~ Picture frames or albums with family photos already mounted.
~ Clip-on lamp for bedside reading, sewing, or wherever she might need a little extra light.
Gifts $20 - $60
~ A beautiful new floral wreath to hang on the front door.
~ Cheerful new table cloth or matching placemats, with napkins and holders.
~ For older or shut-in mothers, a stylish file folder bag with a section for each month of the year. Within each monthly section, place a list of family birthdays, anniversaries or other significant days to remember. Place appropriate cards in each section with names and addresses already computer printed on each stamped envelope. The only thing left for mother to do, is simply write a note on each card and mail.
~ Magnified vanity mirror.
Gifts over $60.00
~ Genealogy software for either beginning or assembling the family tree.
~ Lawn swing or glider for relaxing in the summer evenings.
~ Electronic picture frame loaded with family photographs.
~ A day trip in the car to the town or place of her choice with dinner included. Or a limousine hired to take her and a friend of her choice wherever they might want to go. She can go visit the old neighborhood in style and pick up her friend for lunch.
Whatever you decide to give your mother this year, keep in mind that all she really wants is for you to acknowledge her, and to hear that you love her. Just knowing this, will make her world a better place to live.
