Wedding planning on a tight budget

Your getting married! Congratulations. I am sure money signs are the first thing that pops into your head. It doesn't have to be.

You want the wedding of your dreams but you do not have a extra $50,000 lying around. I have found along my journey to the alter a few cost-saving tips.

What is the first thing you think about when you start planning? The location.

Were are we going to get married? Were is the reception going to be?

We found when looking for the perfect place to have our glorious event to make sure to look so some of the less common places. We stumbled across the city's web page and discovered you can rent out a lot of the city buildings for quite cheap. These included convention centers and many chalets at parks. Being as it is a government facility and not-for-profit the prices are extremely reasonable.

The other perk I found to this is you can customize it very nicely as well. If they have other rooms available in the same building you can usually rent these by the hour instead of having to have a changing room reserved for the full 8 hours when you only need it for 1 hour.

One word of caution, since it is a government building a lot of them do have restrictions on things like Alcohol. You can usually have it there but have to get a permit. I found this to be quite expensive. Sparkling cider it is.

Another thing I also found is use the off-season months. This can vary depending on your location. This will make booking a place a lot easier and cheaper.

The next thing is the all important dress. Unless you are a professional seamstress or know one that specializes in wedding dresses you are better off to buy then attempt to make. You want you special day to be just that special and perfect. The stress of a home made dress with quirks is not what you want.

With that being said there is ways to save on a dress. I fell in love with my perfect dress in a bridal magazine. I went on-line and found that they only work with bridal salons so I would have to go thru a local salon. One important thing I did find by going on-line was the model number or my dress. This can be very important. Armed with that information I called around. I was shocked to discover that the exact same dress ranged in price of over $300 dollars depending on which salon I went with. You are getting the exact same dress regardless of who order's it. In this case cheaper is better.

The next huge thing with a wedding is the invitations. You
