Don't worry - a Salty Dog cocktail doesn't taste all that salty. But the salt on the rim of the glass lends a nice, unusual taste that you won't find in many other cocktails. The name makes it fun, and I served them once while a friend of mine and I watched "Pirates of the Caribbean". If you are really feeling creative, make a miniature Jolly Roger to fly in the drink!
