Do you want a customized facebook fan page? If you’re prepared to put in a little work it is possible to do this yourself by following the guide below. If youre having difficuly you can look for a professional programmer. If you want a smart landing page then there is a Facebook app called Static FBML that could potentially save you a lot of hassle. Save yourself time and money by using the Static FBML app and doing it yourself.
To make this as easy as possible for everyone we’re going to use an image to display. You can use any picture on the internet – all you need is its address which can easily be found by right-clicking on it. Or you can create your own and upload to some webpage. Ideally, if you want this to look as good as possible you should have an image that is 520px in width and any height. This will be your page design so use a graphics program to make a design. Add text, your logo, whatever you want. When saving it “save for web” make the file size as small as possible without it loosing quality.
So now we are ready to get to work
- Go to your fanpage
- Click ‘Edit Page’ under the Page’s image
- Click on ‘More apps’
- Search for ‘static fbml’
- go to the Static fbml app
- Click ‘Add to my Page’ in the left side
- First step is finished
Next you need to edit the app
- go back to your page
- click on edit page and scroll down to the Static fbml app
- click on ‘edit’ and enter the title in the ‘Box Title’
- on the main section enter the following:
<center><img src=http://www.domain.com/yourimage.jpg></center>
- you will need to change the location to the location of your image!
- click ‘save changes’
Change the app settings
google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);
- go to ‘edit your page’ and return to the application
- click on ‘app Settings’ – the setting should be Tab:Added – not box!
Viewing your tab
- go back to your page
- click on the + button and add your tab to the tabs already there
- click on ‘Settings’ – just under ‘Whats on your mind’
- set ‘Default Landing Tab for Everyone Else’ to be your new tab
- all done!
That was a very simple guide for inserting an image as your custom fan page. There is a lot more you can do if you have the proper programming skills or you can find someone to do it for you. Much HTML code will work, some will not. Same with css, but hopefully this tutorial will have given you an insight as to what can be done with Static FBML
