Who doesn't love a nice, cold daiquiri on a hot day? Here in Virginia we love them, since our summers often reach nearly tropic levels of heat and humidity. A daiquiri is a lovely way to finish off a long day, sipping leisurely on the porch or enjoying them with a party of friends!
PEACH DAIQUIRI
My personal favorite, since our local peaches here in Richmond are amazing!
INGREDIENTS
2 measures white rum
1 measure lime juice
1/2 teaspoon sugar syrup
1/2 peach, peeled, pitted, and chopped
DIRECTIONS
1. Combine the white rum, lime juice, sugar syrup, and chopped peach in a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Pour into a chilled wine glass or lowball glass without straining.
BANANA DAIQUIRI
A classic favorite, and actually a little bit good for you since the banana packs tons of nutrients. A good excuse to indulge!
INGREDIENTS
2 measures white rum
1/2 measure triple sec
1/2 measure lime juice
1/2 measure light cream
1 teaspoon sugar syrup
1/4 banana, peeled and sliced
Wedge of lime
DIRECTIONS
1. Combine the white rum, triple sec, lime juice, light cream, sugar syrup, and banana in a blender and blend until smooth.
2. Pour, without straining, into a chilled cocktail glass or lowball glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime.
DERBY DAIQUIRI
Here is one to wow the crowds - almost no one knows about this drink, but just about everyone loves it when they try it!
INGREDIENTS
4-6 ice cubes
2 measures white rum
1 measure orange juice
1/2 measure triple sec
1/2 measure lime juice
Twist of lime peel
DIRECTIONS
1. Blend the ice cubes, white rum, orange juice, triple sec, and lime juice in a blender until smooth.
