A Walk in the Fog
The fog cloaked everything in new garb ; even the most innocent sapling turned dark and sinister. The fog was very dense and visibility was extremely poor. We should never have sneaked out of the house in this weather was what Rahul was thinking.Suddenly something dashed out of the bushes frightening him and making Rita shriek loudly. Hearing the shriek the ‘thing’ stopped in its tracks
Rahul, look ! It’s a puppy! Awww it’s soooo cute ! ” Rita drooled. She made a movement towards him and the puppy ran away and Rita ran behind it.
” Rita, let it go. You won’t be able to catch it. Stop ! ” panted Rahul as he ran behind her. However his words fell on deaf ears. He ran faster to catch up with his sister when she suddenly stopped . ” Where did it go?” Rita asked. They’d lost it and as Rita was looking around to see if she could spot it Rahul was looking around in dismay as he realised they were lost. They’d ventured in deeper than they had ever before and he had no idea which way would lead them back home.
They were lost ! The heavy fog did not help matters.Rahul looked around him with growing panic. ” Can you see it ? ” asked Rita
” No, I can’t. What are we going to do now? ” replied Rahul.
” Well, lets go back home . We’ve lost it ! ” said Rita.
” But how? Which way do we go? We’re lost, you see ” snapped Rahul angrily.
If only Rita had not chased after the puppy then they would not be in this situation.
” Lost ! What are we going to do now , Rahul ? “asked Rita sobbing.
” Don’t cry ! I’ll get us out of here, somehow ” said Rahul consolingly. He felt he had to protect his little sister because he was three years older than her nd more responsible.
” Come on Rita, let’s walk on …Perhaps we’ll find our way back” Rahul said as he started to walk on.
They walked for a long time but each path they took only seemed to lead them into the forest rather than leading them out of it. Finally , frightened & exhausted they decided to rest a awhile in a cave and soon fell into a deep sleep. They were awoken by a loud roar and to their horror found a lioness with four cubs entering the cave.
As the lioness was about to pounce on Rahul and Rita stood cowering in fright behind him , she
