It is indeed sad, that today more and more people are finding it difficult to relax! By focusing our energies on becoming active participants in the rat race, we are constantly striving to do more and achieve more- in the hope of attaining greater success in life.
However, in the bargain, we oft lose out more than we could possibly gain. We become high-strung, nervous and stressed out. Our inability to relax and be stress-free inevitably takes its toll on our mental, physical and emotional well being.
Today, being caught up in a state of hectic rushed activity each day, at times even far into the night, our nervous system is in constant turmoil. Soon, we become victims of mounting tension. It becomes a vicious circle; we find we have no time to relax or live our lives fully. Can anything be done to reverse this dangerous trend? How can we do it-how can we truly relax and be stress-free?
Here are some proven effective strategies to help you to relax and be stress-free:
* Practice relaxation
As you get ready to begin your day, practice being relaxed; do it gently; do not tug or stretch yourself to limit. Dr. Emmett Miller suggests, “For every time in stress, you need a recovery time in relaxation.”
A few minutes of daily ritual either meditating or reading an inspirational message or a poem, or simply sitting quietly in deep contemplation or affirmation, can relax your muscles and usher in tranquility of the mind and spirit. This simple exercise can help you to be stress-free, fill you up with renewed energy and power. You will be able to perform better, work better, live longer and be happier.
* Develop an easy-going mental attitude
Slow down. Tune your mind to develop an easy-going attitude; let this power encompass your whole being and pervade your mind, body and soul. The simplest way is to do everything slowly, without undue pressure. If you observe people who are really efficient, you will find that they are the ones who have imbibed the art of doing things s-l-o-w-l-y and with remarkable ease, without exerting great effort.
Avoid taking yourself too seriously or strain so hard as to constantly be under pressure. By letting the inner recesses of your mind adopt an easy-does-it attitude, you will soon be able to relax and handle your time and work efficiently.
* Determine to enjoy work
