Reverie

~ ~ ~ ~

Familiar and unsettling

It’s fluid and ever changing

But come what may, it remains the same

Time elapses, passes by

And still I know you without having to try

It’s in the air we breathe

Beats in our pulse

And runs through our veins

Springs from within our souls

Somehow you’re always there

In this connection we share

Without question or a single thought

It snaps back into place as if never lost

Somehow the rules do not apply

That tear people apart and cause them to die

Burning inward, consuming me

Is it obsession or is it setting me free?

Although clouds conceal the sky

I see the sunshine gleaming in your eyes

It warms me through, completes me

Thaws even those frozen places

Brings life to passions I thought long gone

And calls me home where I once belonged

With open arms, you welcome me

As if we never missed a beat
