Once you are invited to a bridal shower for a friend or family member, the next step is deciding what gift to get for the bride-to-be. This can be a challenge, especially if you are not well-acquainted with the bride and do not know her tastes. Following are some suggestions for fun gifts to give at a bridal shower.

Registry

Always check the bridal registry, if the bride has created one. You might find some fun items on the registry that you would like to give to the bride and groom. These are things they have picked out themselves and would like to have for their new household, so it makes sense that one of the best gifts you could choose would be from this list.

Pasta Gift

If the bride and groom like Italian food, consider putting together a pasta gift set for them. You could pick a pretty colander and fill it with different kinds of pasta, gourmet sauces, pot holders, pasta utensils, and a cookbook specializing in Italian food. They will be sure to enjoy cooking the food together and using the other parts of the gift in their kitchen.

Wrapping Gift

When you start a new household, there are many necessities that you have to buy that quickly add up, and one such thing is supplies for wrapping gifts. Buy a large plastic under-the-bed box and fill it to the brim with rolls of wrapping paper, bows, spools of ribbon, gift bags, tissue paper, gift tags, tape, and several pairs of scissors. This gift is a fun one to put together, because you can be creative in the styles and design of the items you pick to fill the box.

Movie Gift

If the new couple enjoys watching movies, create a movie bucket for them. Choose a bucket that can also be used to hold popcorn during a movie and then fill it with things such as a few of their favorite movies (or classic ones if you do not know their tastes), gift cards to the movie theater, gourmet popcorn, drinks, and other snacks. You could even add a membership to Netflix, an online movie rental service.

Linens Gift

Many new couples do not have linens for their house, and new linens are always a nice gift to receive. Pick a nice big woven basket for this gift, and then choose different kinds of linens in the couple's color scheme to add to the basket. Some suggestions include bed sheets, a blanket or throw for the couch, decorative pillowcases, dish towels for the kitchen, monogrammed towels and washcloths for the bathroom, or even a small rug for the kitchen or bath. Be sure to check their registry on this gift, as many couples will pick the specific linens they want for their household.

Picking a gift for a bridal shower does not have to be a scary task—gather some information about the couple and their desires and then have fun creating a gift you know they will enjoy. Use some of these ideas or be creative and come up with your own, and the couple will be sure to remember your gift out of all the others they receive!
