The Right Word
It escapes in the day hours
Takes the mind prisoner at night
Fighting off unwanted powers
In an effort to make it right
It swims out with the ocean tide
Twisting the mental wave
Bathing in the artistic ride
Slipping away before it is saved
It blows in the barren prairie fields
Teasingly over the sunflowers it flies
Its poetic harvest is not ready to yield
The more it inspires, the harder it tries
It flows in the lazy linguistic river
Bathing itself in metaphoric sunlight
Tip of the tongue can’t deliver
It retreats back to its playful plight
It soars in flight with the eagles
In its freedom it can be heard
It gravitates to the creative pull
Home at last…the right word

Poetry: The right word

only
Words Never Fail
A picture is deamed worth a thousand.
The right one? Worth a thousand pictures!
Alone, it marks potential
