Why President Bush Won't Be Impeached
There has been much speculation over the past few years as to when impeachment hearings will be held in reference to President Bush's Iraq War request. Many on the left and far left have been waiting for the show to begin. I'm afraid they will never see this come to fruition. The current Democrat led Congress will not hold impeachment hearings regarding this matter.
Why? Because the (then) Congress agreed with the President and believed the evidence he presented and voted for the war. It's this simple. The (now) Congress will not go public with their own "idiocy". If they push too hard, they will implicate themselves. So, it will never happen.
As to legalities, there were no laws broken. The President used the information provided by the various intelligence agencies to make his decision and request. For the Democrat led Congress to now publicly decry this intelligence, they must also admit that during the Clinton Administration, the budgets of these same agencies were raided and detoured and therefore, left the US open to infiltration by terrorist elements. They will never admit this.
Bill Clinton faced impeachment because he lied under oath, clearly an illegal activity. Yes, much of the American public (including myself) rallied behind the Congress at the time, but in the end, it is the Congress that makes the yea or nay decision to impeach.
President Bush has broken no laws. There is no evidence to suggest he has. Only the bitterness of a bunch of sore losers who would rather see the Constitution of the United States altered to serve their political agenda rather than head back to the drawing board to develop a political strategy that actually inspires the American voting public.
But there are still many out there who insist on raising the rallying cry of "Impeach! Impeach! Impeach!" I just don't see the point. And the Congress doesn't either. Not if they want their lefty supporters to continue to believe that they were all victims of the evil Dick Cheney and his oil-dripping, spotted owl-hunting, planet plundering cronies at Halliburton. Oh, and on that topic, the accusations of handing over government contracts to Republican supporting corporations should stop also. This is par for the course no matter which party holds the White House. That's why Congress will never dig too deep in that haystack, either. They want all the perks in place should they ever regain control of the executive branch.
Our Democrat and Republican Congressional leaders all understand how the game is played. They just assume the general public does not. Bill Clinton got caught red-handed and was reprimanded, just as a child should be. President Bush has not been "caught". So therefore, no reprimand. And if the Democrats want things to stay the same, they will not rock the boat too much. No impeachment is on the horizon.
