To run a mobile lunch truck business and generate enough money to turn a profit can be a daunting task, but with the proper planning and approach the career can be quite a successful one. A mobile lunch truck business is always based upon the simple concept of delivering good food to working people at locations where local eateries are absent, and therefore the mobile lunch truck becomes the only means of obtaining a meal or break time snack for employees of a given company. To run a mobile lunch truck takes a special personality type, one that includes the characteristics of a perfectionist, a hard worker, a chef and an entrepreneur. While the job to run a mobile lunch truck business does not at first glance appear to be all that difficult, those in the industry can tell you that it takes years to learn how to operate a top-notch mobile lunch truck.

One of the most important steps to run a mobile lunch truck business is to assure that the appearance of the truck itself and the food to be sold are attractive to patrons. No one wants to purchase a wilted salad from a dirty mobile lunch truck, so it becomes imperative that the truck is well maintained and the food items for sale are fresh and appetizing. A mobile lunch truck should be washed daily, and the food inventory should be inspected at least once a day to in order to discard items that are beyond healthy use. There is a simple adage that mobile lunch truck operators should all live by (but unfortunately some do not) and that is "if you would not consume a particular food item yourself, don't attempt to sell it to a customer". One customer that experiences food poisoning from an outdated food item can literally ruin an entire mobile lunch truck business, so caution in the area of food safety and hygiene are critical.

To run a mobile lunch truck business successfully a route must be established that is meticulously timed to arrive at a business exactly at lunch or break time. Each stop on a mobile lunch truck route should employ a decent amount of employees - the more employees at a given business, the more sales a mobile lunch truck may be able to generate.

Lastly, to run a mobile lunch truck business demands excellent customer service skills, good manners and a better than average sense of humor. In one sense, mobile lunch truck operators a much like bartenders in that they listen more than they speak and are responsive in most instances to the needs of their customers.
