Randy Couture, The Toughest Fighter In The UFC

Randy Couture started his UFC fighting career way back in May of 1997. His first fight was against Tony Halme (who had been a WWE wrestler). Halme outweighed Couture by 100 pounds and Couture schooled him the whole fight, ending it with a rear naked choke. Couture fought another fighter on the same night and knocked him out in the first round. The fighter was also bigger than Couture and Couture knocked him out anyway. The fighter's name was Stephen Graham. Randy Couture "The Naturals" fighting career began. Randy Couture has fought fights like this constantly over his 13 year UFC career. Captain America (as he's lovingly called by his fans) has risen up to every challenge in victory and defeat. Randy Couture has fought against the greatest odds of any UFC fighter. He has been willing to step into the ring with any and all UFC heavyweight fighters. Sometimes he has lost and sometimes he has won. Nearly all the time, Randy Couture was the underdog. This is why I believe Randy Couture Is The Toughest UFC Fighter Ever.

In November of 2008, Randy Couture had the guts to step into the ring with Brock Lesner. Lesner is a former WWE Champion. Lesner held the belt three times and is the UFC heavyweight champion. Couture "The Natural" on the other hand was winding down his UFC career and is in his 40's. Couture lost the fight by technical knockout, but he toughed out a fight against a much younger and bigger opponent. When the whole world thought his career was finally over, Couture comes back to fight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Although Randy lost the fight, the two men fought an incredible fight. Both men earning honors as the "fight of the night" I was amazed how Randy pulled himself up after the horrible knockout loss to Brock Lesner and fights in the fight of the night in his next bout. What's even more incredible, Randy Couture has been doing this same thing for thirteen years. Against fighters who were thought to better than him. Even more incredible, Randy comes back yet another time after two defeats to fight Brandon Vera. He wins an unaminous decision against an up and coming fighter who is young enough to be his UFC son. He than comes back for yet another fight at the age of 46 to beat Mark Coleman with a rear naked choke victory. Again, this is why Randy Couture Is The Toughest UFC Fighter Ever.

Randy Couture proves you don't have to be the most talented fighter to fight in the UFC. You have to have skills, but heart can take you a long way in the UFC. Not many UFC have the combination of skills and heart like Randy Couture. He is a great wrestler, a decent boxing, Muay Thai, and Jui-Jitsu. Randy is not the most talented fighter, but he is smart, he is tough, and he continues to learn. Randy Couture is not the greatest ever UFC fighter. He is a hall of famer and he is the most competitive man you will ever meet in the ring. What Randy Couture has is the heart and determination to go up against all odds and come out victorious. This is why Randy Couture Is The Toughest UFC Fighter Ever. He's been this way for thirteen long UFC years.
